Training & Schedule Update
Over the weekend I pulled the trigger on my 3rd race of the season; which will be the Antelope Island Buffalo Run race on you guessed it, Antelope Island just outside of Layton, UT in the Salt Lake City, UT area. I'm signed up for the 50 mile race variety. CLICK HERE for the elevation map of the Buffalo Run 50 (this is the 100, which is just the 50 twice).
From a schedule perspective it really fits great & there's no doubt that my pleasant run at the Windburn 6 left me fixing for a race! In terms of scheduling; I've got 6 solid weeks + 1 taper week before Buffalo Run, then I will have another 6 week gap before Miwok 100k. So the timing & progression of the spring should go quite well. My goal between now & May is to continue to build my time or duration of weekly running & continue to build in the climbing &/or strength work.
Here's a quick look at the last couple weeks of mileage & my plans for the next 6 before Buffalo Run 50. Also a couple photos from the last week:
Jan 23: 86 miles (14.5 hours); Windburn 6 > 38.76 miles in 5:50
Jan 30: 88 miles (15.2 hours); hill work on weekend
Feb 6: 90-100 miles, increase hill work, 16+ hours
Feb 13: 100-105 miles, speed week; 2-3 days track, tempo weekend
Feb 20: Strength Focus - 80-90 miles - 3-4 days strength focused runs
Feb 27: Strength Focus - 100-110 miles - 3-4 days strength focused runs
Mar 5: Speed Week - 100-110 - 2-3 track, tempo weekend
March 12: Taper
March 19: Race Week
